“For God has not given us the spirit of fear…”

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind.” – 2 Timothy 1:7

Fear kills dreams.

Fear delays opportunities.

Fear stops you from fulfilling your purpose.

Why do we allow the spirit of fear to cripple us in the midst of the tasks God has assigned for us?

Fear is one of the main, if not the major, factor that prevents us from stepping outside of comfort zones. We’ve taken refuge in these comfort zones and become complacent in our lives. We’ve watched opportunities pass us by every day because the voice that tells us we aren’t qualified or we aren’t suited for the opportunity fills our mind. Too often have we let the spirit of fear dictate our lives.

We as God’s people who are made in His image (meaning we possess the qualities and the likeness of God) forget that fear is not apart of our spiritual makeup.

The devil uses fear in order to stop us from fulfilling God’s purpose over our life. He does this because not only does he know the impact that you would have in God’s kingdom but he’s aware of the influence you would have in your daily life as you interact with people and they’d see the power of God in you. If the devil knows the power that lives within you, it’s time you know, recognize and acknowledge that power too. The devil fears the day you realize this because the second you do, you’ve tapped into something powerful.

Why would the devil fear the power within you?

NEWSFLASH: The devil believes in the power of God too! There was a time where he dwelt with God and worshipped him. We now know that’s not the case but the devil still believes in the power of the Holy Ghost and that’s why he tries so hard to fight you.

Make the daily decision to confront your fears.

Allow the spirit of power, love and a sound mind to guide you through your days. Look to the Lord for strength and He will give you just that.

Let’s make the choice (together) that instead of taking refuge in our fears and comfort zones, we’ll chant Psalm 46 and take refuge in God who gives us strength.
